Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park - Trail Map / Google Aerial Map / Directions to Bonelli MAU Meetings
Our Home Park offers over 1,950 acres with over twelve miles of individual trails. This offers hundreds of combinations possible, from a short loop to a trip around the lake, where a dull ride is not an option. Assisting hikers, cyclists or fellow equestrians your rides will be peaceful and helpful to others. Bonelli Regional Park provides MAU staging at the Mounted Assistance Training facility (stalls available this location only), the park maintenance yard or adjacent to the Bonelli Equestrian Center and all offer plenty of room for trucks and trailers.Walnut Creek Park & Antonovich Trail - Additional Information / Google Aerial Map /Directions to Bonelli MAU Meetings
With a quick crossing of San Dimas Avenue you can extend your ride that began in Bonelli Park to the Walnut Creek Wilderness Park. Or just start at Walnut Creek Wilderness Park at three possible staging areas. One is located on San Dimas Ave. south of Arrow Highway (easiest for hikers and mountain bikers, not much room for horse trailers). The second is at the south end of Valley Center Drive at the "Valley Center" staging area. And finally from Covina Blvd south on Lyman Ave and left (east) on Scarborough Ave to the end and veer right. Valley Center and Scarborough are best for equestrians, the largest of the two is Scarborough. Both with room for trucks and horse trailers but a word of caution after a heavy rain mud can be a problem. And we suggest to call riders to call the Park Office in advance to make sure these areas are open after a good rain.
"On Sunday, June 8, 2003, a ribbon cutting dedication ceremony was held at the Supervisor Antonovich’s Trail Dusters’ semi annual ride at Bonelli Park, celebrating the renaming of the Walnut Creek Trail to “The Michael D. Antonovich Trail”. The equestrian community, including the Los Angeles County Sheriff Mounted Unit and the Bonelli Park Mounted Assistance Unit requested that the trail be renamed in recognition of Supervisor Antonovich’s support for the preservation of the equestrian lifestyle, trails, and the many trail activities sponsored through the Fifth District. The Michael D. Antonovich Trail is an integral link in the eastern Los Angeles County trail system, connecting the Schabarum Trail to the Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park Trail."
